VizzTone proudly welcomes Amy Hart to the family with the international release of LIVE AT THE MAYNE STAGE, available now!
Born and raised in Chicago, Amy Hart got her start playing and singing with with a West Side Chicago blues band. Soon she was playing at Chicago clubs with Junior Wells, and opening shows for Koko Taylor and James Cotton. Since then, she has established herself as a wide-ranging musical force— a powerful singer, songwriter, and guitarist — and has been critically acclaimed everywhere from the Gulf Coast to L.A., Nashville, Kathmandu and back.
Currently living outside Nashville, Amy Hart returned to Chicago last July for a featured artist spot on the “Music from the Mayne Stage” series at the beautifully renovated Mayne Stage Theatre in Rogers Park. The resulting album, LIVE AT THE MAYNE STAGE, features Amy with her touring band: Gene Bush (former student of Mississippi John Hurt) on Dobro, Grammy-nominated Blues Harpist PT Gazell, her husband Wally Hoffman on Upright Bass, and Matt McDowell on Drums. The new CD has a softer, more organic feel than her previous work, with a nod to her own personal journey and years of writing, playing, traveling, and living. Gracefully sidestepping all the usual pigeonholes, Amy Hart continues to grow as a uniquely emotive artist.
The set was also videotaped for PBS to be broadcast Spring 2015 on 180 affiliate stations around the country. VizzTone is releasing LIVE AT THE MAYNE STAGE in partnership with Amy’s own Painted Rock Records.
